Canadian Farmers With Disabilities Registry (CFWDR)

The Canadian Farmers with Disabilities Registry (CFWDR), formed in January 1997, is a national organization that promotes farm safety and provides resources and encouragement to disabled farmers and their families. The provinces of Alberta, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Saskatchewan are represented.

Establishing where and how farm accidents happen and the types of disabilities sustained, provide meaningful statistics for the development of future farm safety initiatives and identifies support programs required for those with disabilities. Through a united voice, these concerns can be approached collectively.

Types of disabilities range from disease, loss of sight or hearing, to amputations and paralysis. If you are a farmer, family member or farm worker with any type of permanent injury, illness, or disability, and would like to register on this confidential list, please complete and submit one of the "Yes! Count Me In!" forms on this web site. You can use the Printable, or the On-Line version. Alternatively, you can contact CFWDR directly, at info@fwdcanada.com. Names will not be provided to anyone else without the written consent of the individual.

By working in conjunction with Farm Credit Canada (FCC), the Registry was instrumental in the development of different insurance options provided by FCC.

Production of a video, "It's Not Worth the Cost", also occurred.

Canadian Farmers With Disabilities Registry (CFWDR) supports disabled people in pursuing farming as a viable and realistic occupational goal and lifestyle.
